Loss of a Best Friend

We found out last night that one of my hubby's best friends died.  He was a truck drive that lived in Arkansas.  He was in Ohio at the time and called his dispatcher and said that he was stopping to take a quick shower because he wasn't feeling well.  Next thing that happened was he sat in a chair and died of a massive heart attack.  He was 49.

My poor hubby is devastated.  His other best friend died of unknown causes back in 2002.  He said that he's going to start backing away from his friends a little because they all die.  Told him that he can't do that because he has some wonderful friends.

My heart is breaking for him.  Luckily he had the chance to talk with JJ's dad this morning.  I also found JJ's obituary on line this morning in Arkansas and forwarded the link to him.  On hubby's yahoo cribbage site (where he, JJ and many others play - in fact that's how he met JJ) he posted a tribute and has been talking with all the members today notifying them of JJ's passing and I think in a way it's helping all them with the pain of the loss.

JJ was an extraordinary man.  He came to our house for dinner when in town or hubby and him went to a restaurant and played cribbage for hours.  He'll be truly missed by all.

I'm so sorry  about yours and your hubby friend. It is a shock when they go so young.

Thanks.  He's doing a little better now.  Finally got him to realize that the memories he has with JJ is priceless.
