Night Terrors?

Dylan has been waking up in the middle of the night screaming his little head off.  Sometimes i can't do anything to calm him down.  I think he might be having night terrors or something.  One night when he woke up, he was standing in his crib looking at the wall, and screaming like he was having a temper tantrum.  I was told that I had night terrors when I was younger.  He does eventually fall back asleep, but he is so upset when I get to him.  Has anyone else experienced anything like this?

Anthony never went through that, but I did find a really good article on pediatrics and night terrors.  http://pediatrics.about.com/cs/sleep/a/night_terrors.htm

Thanks Dutchie!  That gives me a little reassurance in what I'm doing.

I know this post is from a while ago but I had to weigh in.  Ry does this too.  The doctor told us to wake him all the way up and just reassure him that it's okay.  In the middle of the night, it seems worse than it is.  He did this at around 18 months, then they went away and came back around 3.  They are gone again right now (knock on wood)...hang in there!

Sorry you have to deal with that. I'm so glad I did not however.  I did deal with sleep walking and sleep talking..that was enough for me. My kids however didn't do the sleep walking my nephew did..and boy did you have to really watch him. EEK!

Andrea -

These started happening about 2 months ago.  There is no rhyme or reason to them.  I do my best to console him, and after reading the article Dutchie lingked to me, I do try to make sure he is awake.  It's just hard at times because as a mommy, all you want to do is comfort your kiddo!  Hopefully once he's out of his crib he doesn't start sleep-walking!  Oh, dear...I don't think i could handle that!
