V for Vendetta

This radical movie is a must see for everyone who votes, thinks, or just enjoys their god-given freedoms.

People have been telling me to see this movie for months but I had no idea how important it could be.

From IMDB:
"Adapted from Allan Moore's graphic novel of the same name, "V for Vendetta" tells the story of Evey Hammond and her unlikely but instrumental part in bringing down the fascist government that has taken control of a futuristic Great Britain. Saved from a life-and-death situation by a man in a Guy Fawkes mask who calls himself V, she learns a general summary of V's past and, after a time, decides to help him bring down those who committed the atrocities that led to Britain being in the shape that it is in."

The truth is that the political climate in the movie is terrifyingly close to where we are headed now. To watch the progression of distrust and political spinning to create a climate of worldwide terror and how easy it became for people to sumit to a "supreme" leader was shocking, and I think it's a necessary view for anyone who has felt the pinching of their rights and priveledges in the current administration. And even for those that haven't.

Regardless of how you feel about our current political climate, this movie is a striking look at how easy it is to let go of all we hold as our unalienable rights... and what it would take to get it back.

This is one of my favorite movies as well! I did not think I would like it when dh told me to watch it and said how much he liked it...but within the first 5 minutes it had me hooked. I remember hearing about a movie that Natalie Portman did where she shaved her head (and all the hoopla that the press did about her at different red carpet events with her head shaved) but that was all I had heard about it...I had never even heard the name of the movie in which she did it.

I love watching these sorts of future movies, cuz I am one that feels that, instead of the space ships and robots running all over...this is a depiction of what our future really holds.
