I was working on my pharmacology class and we were talking about how the flu spreads. Last week I had a student sit down next to me who clearly was sicker then all get out. Needless to say I ended up with it. grr
I ended up going to Walmart and picking up the real Pseudofed (generic) which works like a charm unlike that crap they substituted for it in most cold/flu medications. So I have gotten little done around here today.
One thing I did learn over the course of my years on this earth is not to drink any milk or eat ice cream/cottage cheese while you are congested and/or have sinuses draining. It seems to make your throat feel coated and makes you keep trying to clear your throat which only makes your throat more irritated/sore.
So my question is how do you deal with a cold/flu? What is your way to comfort yourself?
Well.... at least when I'm stuffed up and congested. When I mix a little brandy with hot water, lemon, cinnamon stick and a little honey it helps.
I try to drink lots of water. Most of the time my colds go straight into bronchitis but I've been very lucky this year. I ended up with a sinus cold to where I thought my head was going to bust. The only thing that relieved it was an cold antihistamine. It cleared my head enough to get things done. Cold didn't last long either.
Lots of liquids for sure... sometimes I will take some eccanacia if I feel a cold coming on -- not 100% sure it works, but a few times it seems to have.
