Think of all of the ways we have that we can contact people these days. Do you think any of them are reliable??? I mean, cell phones, email, instant messaging, texting, calling from landlines. Do these things stress you out when they do not work?
It TOTALLY stresses me out when they don't work. It gives me so much freedom! When my kids are in school, I can go anywhere without having to leave a long list of phone numbers. The gym, the store - wherever and the school can call if they need me - it doesn't happen much, but does happen
and in December we were without Electricity (no puter - because of course even the wireless routers were down), no t.v., no cell, no phone except for our immediate exchange.....for A WEEK. No newspaper for 3 days. We had a battery powered radio and it was all local news because they had no comms either. We relied on ham radio operators and people driving around. It was 2 days before the roads were clear enough for DH to get somewhere to buy gas for the generator (and it took him 4 hours). We were NOT prepped enough (I have an extra 30 gallons in my garage now...).
So yes, I stress when I can't chat with my family and friends :)
