Hard to believe but Easter is this weekend already. Wasn't it just Christmas? LOL
Okay so what is everyone doing for Easter? Are you going out? Cooking at home? And if you're cooking what are you making?

With me we are staying home this year. Anthony is not getting home until late Saturday evening because of his last final in the afternoon. I'll be doing the traditional ham, scalloped potatoes, green beans, salad and rolls. I'm also making a german chocolate cake with a caramel coconut frosting. Gosh just typing this has made me hungry!!!
What kind of really disappoints me is I asked Anthony if he wanted anything special in his basket this year and his reply was "mom don't do a basket this year for me". What the.... UGH -- it wasn't until my hubby finally said to me "honey he's 19 years old" that I finally realized that my basket days are over (sigh). Oh well, I'll do a family one and he'll dig into that one.
We are having our easter on saturday, because jenny has to work on sunday. And jamie is doing all the cooking and cleaning at her house.Woo Hoo
we are having Lamb and a Ham plus home made scalloped potatos, corn casserole,rolls. and some kind of sweets.. I think she making a chest cake.Mmmmm..
I'm so happy that I don't have to do all that freakin cooking. I think my days of cooking like that is passed on to jamie. Cooking for a big crowd..
Are you giving anything up for lint?? mom used to give something up for lint every year.. I never did.. other then my super model figure.Haha
My mother in law used to make all of us a easter basket, all the daughter in laws and her sons and the grandkids.. all of adults loved the easter baskets.. just make Anthony a basket he will love it. he wont let you know that he likes it, but in time when he gets older he'll tell you.
I bet you can though - it just needs to be customized...I used to make DH one every year - one year it was a watering can with some gardening tools he wanted (he has the green thumb, not me!), one year it was a galvanized bucket with - eh, whatever in it..
As a college kid there is BOUND be be something he wants or needs - maybe an extra storage container with an iturnes card and some microwave popcorn (personally, I'd put in the plastic grass too - I'm sure he can lose it on his way back to school!)
How is school going for him?
Here - well, we've all been sick since Matt got home a month ago ... we are having the 1/4 or 1/3 of the prime rib we had for Christmas dinner - not traditional, but we need to eat it..not sure what will go with it yet - salad, maybe some pasta with pesto and pinenuts....we'll probably stick with jello, pudding or ice cream for dessert. I FINALLY got their Easter outfits - not exactly what I wanted, but it will work...poor Andrew got drug all through the mall in Portland the day after his eye surgery, he was a trooper though
Matt leaves again, but only for a little over a week, right after the kids go to bed.

I agree - no basket - ACK!!!! Well, I told Jeff that he's getting one but like you all said it will be modified. I went out and bought a few things today. I bought a couple of shirts that I will roll up and put in the basket plus a Starbucks, Staples and Walmart card(s). He can then buy what he wants. I also snuck in some breakfast bars, and other things for him to munch on.
Anthony loves college. He went in as a graphic arts major but is now leaning towards adolescent psychology. Weird but Okay!! I figure he'll change his mind several more times before he really decides upon his actual major.
I need to order a new cell phone tomorrow for him because he e-mailed telling us that his went into a hot tub - UGH. Luckily we have insurance on the phone but geesh this is his third phone in a year!!! Oh well.....
Well, gotta run!!! Have a great Easter everyone!!!

I got to agree with Tami on Anthony's opinion of Easter baskets. He may say he is too old for it as your dh said, but in his heart he will still enjoy the goodies. I considered making one for M but thought naw, he keeps complaining about needing to lose weight and has insisted upon me cutting back his portions of food, etc so heck with it. Not that he would have a clue to do that for me anyway. (typical guy)
I am going to Michael's grandmother's house around noonish but have yet to make up my mind what I am bringing as a dish to pass. She is doing ham, scalloped potatoes, lemon lush, blueberry pie and his mom is bring the famous green bean casserole. Any idea for sides for me to bring?
Tami, I have done that corn casserole before. I was considering the same thing. Quick and easy to make.
Here is the recipe for the lemon lush. It was pretty good. I don't know what I would change about it, except to use cooked lemon pudding. Better flavor in my opinion. Course I hate instant anyway.
