I am not doing so hot, kitty scratched my eye late last night & I ended up going into the hospital today over it.
Three weeks ago I ended up getting bi-focals and I was not accustomed to wearing them when watching tv. So I was in bed last night when my 2.5 month old kitten was playing with the strings on my hoodie when she jumped in my face and scratched my right eye. Thankfully, amom has been putting the antibiotic eye drops every four hours in my right eye and I have been putting the erythromycin antibiotic ointment in my eye every 4 hours too. Very red and very painful let me tell you.
The hospital had to call an opthomologist in from the next town over to come check out my eye, he told me it is scratched very badly and deeply. Told me that I have to keep a close watch on it getting infected. He said I was lucky she did not get my cornea.
So, they gave me a shot that is 10 times stronger than morphine ( Dilaudid ) along with anti-nausea medication (phenergan)in my hip and did all kinds of testing on my eye. I had driven myself to the hospital and Michael has extended family in from out of town so he could not be around to take me in. I ended up having to call mom as I could barely stand up after that so she came and got me.
I have an appointment with eye doctor again on Friday afternoon. He told me no computer and no TV unless I am listening not watching for two days. sigh So I wanted to let you know I will not be on the boards for at least the next day or so. Just wanted to let you know what is going on. Keep your fingers crossed for me.
Goodness Lyn!!! I'm glad that you didn't do more damage. Let us know what happens and I hope that it heals quickly. Just know that we're thinking about you.
The doctor said that my eye is not great, but just ok and wants to see me again on Tuesday. Now he is moving the antibiotic drops and antibiotic ointment to every three hours up from every four hours and wants me to sleep with an eye patch on.
Actually, I am doing very well. Went to doc the other day to have it checked again and he said it looked much better. It hurt like hell that's for sure. Scary too. But thanks for asking. It's almost back to 100%.
