Rashes

About a month ago, Crysta got stung by what she thinks was a bee... the next day she developed a rash on her thighs. The rash did not itch, nor was it raised... it was lacy looking. I gave her benedryl, but that did nothing for her rash... over the next week her rash spread down her legs and onto her arms... no other place on her body. A week later it was gone.

Saturday, Michelle started developing a similar rash. I found a tick on Michelle's ear, which had not been there long as it had not started getting fat at all.  This rash started on her upper left arm, and the first night it was itchy. Well, it has since spread down both her arms, and onto her back and chest area. I looked at it today, and it is now on her belly as well. This rash is also lacy looking, and not itchy. I took Michelle to the ER monday worried that it may be from the tick I found... but the dr there was clueless, and she wasnt sure what it was. She said she didnt really think it was lyme disease, but gave her antibiotics just in case.

Has anyone had any experience with unexplained rashes that have no symptoms? I would really like to know what this is caused from.. if it is something she has eaten, I can prevent her from eating it again... I just cant think of anything new she has eaten lately though.

Hi there -

At first it almost sounded like the measles.  But you took her to the doc and they didn't say anything about that.  And besides she had no other symptoms.

They say this year is the worst for allergies.  She could be allergic to grasses or even a certain pollen that causes rashes.  I had that when I was little.  It could be something new that both of them have eaten.

I used to break out in rashes (with no other symptoms) when I came in contact with fresh cut grasses, animals (of almost all sorts) and some foods.  However, I used to itch like crazy when that happened.

I hope you find out what's causing it.  It can be miserable and annoying.

Good luck in finding the cause.
