Okay so this week has been a hectic one to say the least.
Jeff's uncle had a heart transplant about 2 weeks ago and we've been on pins and needles as to the outcome. The news is that there's no sign of rejection thus far (thank goodness). He's still on dialysis but they say that he's starting to show signs that his kidneys are slowly recovering (I guess you could say rejunvenating). His other organs are doing better and the bloating they say will start going away once his kidneys start fully functioning (granted that they do). So that's the good news!!!
I learned this morning that my nephew will be deployed to Iraq six months after his basic which ends early July. I'm not sure how to feel about this. In a way my heart just sank, but then I thought about all those men and women there fighting for our freedom. I know Karleen understands as her husband was deployed for quite some time and is home safe and sound. I'm very proud of our nephew. He's a great kid and human being. But oh the butterflies in my tummy about this whole thing is nerve racking.
Well, that's the news for me..... How was your week???
Geez, how on earth did I miss this post? Stacey, any word on his uncle? Wow such a huge transplant. I cannot imagine how someone deals with a new heart.
I have known of several of the guys who just after they got out of bootcamp go to training for a few months then head to Iraq. I hope your nephew stays safe!
Not much going on here just working on classes. I will be glad for the break this weekend.
So far so good. Jeff's other uncle keeps us informed with e-mails. He's a highly known doctor and speaks with RD's doctors on a regular basis. Of course RD is still kind of out of it but they say that's normal. He's still in ICU and will remain there for just a little while longer. They expect him to be in the hospital for another month or so. It's just a waiting game right now. His organs needs to "rejuvenate" (best way to put it).
As far as my nephew? I'm nervous but I have faith that everything will be okay. He's pretty level headed and I think that makes a world of difference in situations as that.
Have you heard anything about when your school is closing and what you'll do next?
ONe day at a time with your uncle. My prayers are with him and your family.
Do you know where he is going in Iraq? I will tell you, if it is Al-Asad then great. It is one of the safest bases out there. On the positive side, things have gotten pretty quiet over there. MOst of the craziness has slowed down, so that is good. He will be fine. lots of prayers from my side.
Well, on news...My mom moved down here a month ago. It is great having family so close. Just found out Rich is going to leave again really soon. NOt happy about, but there wasn't much we could do about it. It isn't Iraq again, but it is a possible hotspot, so not happy at all. I figured it would happen, especially since he hadn't deployed in so long ( 8 years). Chris leaves for 3 days next week. Their 8th grade trip. We have to drive to Michigan to get my moms stuff she left. That should be a fun drive. LOL> All in all that is about it for now.
Richard's leaving again already? Gosh that went by quickly. My thoughts are with you guys!!
Uncle RD is doing well. According to the docs he's recovering slowly but he's healing. That's the good news. I still worry about the rejection part. You never know, but I'll keep you all informed.
Thanks Annie - Bob is doing well in boot camp and will be graduating early July. I've been sending cards and well wishes to him. His mom says that he's constantly busy and he's loving military life.
