I received a call from my sister last night along with an e-mail from my brother. My brother and his family are in Cozumel on vacation. My nephew was in an accident in Cozumel the night before last. Apparently he went out to a bar on the other side of the island on the motor scooter and was drinking Margaritas. On his way back he hit a pot hole in the road and dumped the scooter. A taxi driver saw him in the road and called an ambulance. He has a broken bone in his ear which is causing internal bleeding (which is being treated by drops to stop the bleeding), stitches in his head and a crack (not broken thank goodness) in his shoulder area.
He doesn't remember anything but the last Margarita that he drank. Because of the alcohol and the head injury he became pretty violent in the hospital and they were finally able to calm him down.
He needs to lay real low for the next 5 days in order for him to fly home here to the states.
Can you please keep him in your thoughts and prayers
I'll update you when I get more information. Thanks.
Those had to of been some wicked margaritas! You bet I will keep him in my prayers. Though I cannot for the life of me understand why people who have been drinking get violent in a hospital. sheesh
Actually it wasn't the alcohol that made him violent. It was the head injury. The same thing happened to his brother when he did a header into a tree going downhill. His head injury caused him to be violent in the ER. I guess it's not unusual.
I hope your nephew will be ok. when we went to Cozumel , the cruise ship warned us about those motor scooters. they said alot of people get hurt over there on them..
Got a quick e-mail from my sister-in-law. He's doing well but moving real slow at this point. He's been laying low and is very angry with himself. They say that he should be okay for flight next Thursday which is their scheduled day back. We're just keeping our fingers crossed at this point.
According to my brother's first wife (my nephew's mom) he's doing okay. Still real slow but looks like he'll be able to return on Thursday as planned. When she called he was out on a glass bottom boat. The little turkey better not get his head wet is all I can say.
